Random Name Generator
Pick how many, hit generate.
How names get generated
Each name pairs a random adjective with a random noun from a curated list, aiming for names that sound intentional rather than random gibberish — useful for placeholder usernames, team names, or naming something quickly without overthinking it.
Where this actually gets used
Sports league team names, D&D or tabletop character names in a pinch, placeholder labels in a mockup or prototype, or breaking a naming-committee deadlock by just picking one from a generated batch and running with it. Generate several at once with the count field if the first result doesn't land — every name comes from the same curated pairing, so quality stays consistent whether you generate one or twenty.
Why curated beats fully random word pairing
A generator that pairs any random adjective with any random noun from a full dictionary produces a lot of results that sound like nonsense rather than a name — "Purple Stapler" reads as a joke, not a team name. This one draws from a smaller, hand-picked list of adjectives and nouns chosen specifically because they sound plausible in combination, trading raw variety for a much higher hit rate of results that actually sound like something a real team, character, or project would be called.
Picking a favorite from a batch
Generating a larger batch (bump the count up to 10 or 15) and skimming for the two or three that land best is usually more productive than generating one at a time and hoping — reading several options side by side makes it much easier to tell which one actually fits the tone you're going for, whether that's playful, serious, or somewhere in between.
